Who are we? - A keen Band of Musicians of all aged from 8 to 70 who enjoy playing music together and entertaining the public.

We cater for all levels of experience with an auxiliary and a senior Band.

The Hastings Band is based in our own Bandroom….right across the Road from the Hastings cemetery and just along from the Hawkes Bay Hospital in Orchard Rd Hastings.

We have been serving the Hawkes Bay community since 1887.

The Hastings Citizens Brass Band is similar to a standard British Brass Band averaging 20-30 players

Our main objective is to have fun performing quality, entertaining music within our local community.

The band's repertoire includes modern/popular music along with movie / TV theme music selections and some major works for contesting.

Hastings is situated in the temperate climate of the Hawkes Bay on the East Coast of the North Island of New Zealand.

Twenty minutes away is the City of Napier, we are known as the Twin Cities.

Rehearsals

We rehearse on Wednesday nights from 7:30 - 9:30pm, February to December at the Hastings Bandrooms. For more information please email us at hastingscband@slingshot.co.nz or by standard post at PO Box 693, Hastings

Hastings Citizens Auxilliary Brass

Hastings Auxilliary Brass is a great band for beginner musicians of brass and percussion instruments. The band gives the opportunity for players to gain experience in a band environment and prepare them for moving on to the senior band.

The band performs around twice a year. The music that Hastings Auxilliary Brass performs covers a wide range of styles. Some of the music is especially written for beginner level bands, while other pieces are simplified arrangements of well known tunes. The band play marches, folk songs and TV and movie themes like the Flintstones, Men of Harlech and Harry Potter.

Would you like to learn an instrument and join the Hastings Auxilliary Brass?
Email us: hastingscband@slingshot.co.nz OR Write to us: PO Box 693, Hastings

Hastings Auxilliary Brass rehearses on Thursday nights, between 6pm and 7pm, at the Hastings Band rooms, Orchard Road, Hastings.
Instrument tuition is typically through Neville Stewart the School Itinerent Music Teacher at the Bandroom or through the schools.

Fees are $30 per year, which covers instrument, tuition and music.
Band members are required to have their own black trousers, black shoes, black socks and a white top.
When a player is good enough to perform as a member of the band, they are expected to make every effort to attend all rehearsals and playouts.

Hawkes Bay people regularly buy fresh-from-the-field fruits and vegetables, eat locally made cheeses and artisan breads, savour seafood straight from the boat, enjoy handmade chocolates and ice-cream, prime quality meats, and drink award winning wines and beers produced on prime land of the Heretaunga Plains.
This legendary bounty comes from long sunshine hours, rich soils and a warm Mediterranean climate. It's one of New Zealand's top orcharding and meat-producing areas and was once dubbed the fruit bowl of New Zealand.
Nowadays grapes, olives, avocadoes, lavender, gourmet vegetables and herbs flourish as well on this productive patchwork.
Hastings boasts fine restaurants and good cafes.
Winery restaurant chefs match wines to local produce daily and successfully cater for thousands of visitors annually. Hastings City is a vibrant centre set against an elegant backdrop of Spanish Mission-style architecture.
